Historical Background
PRO Seed Ltd. was incorporated in 2018 as a seed company, with a mission to contribute to South Sudan’s agricultural development through the production and availability of quality seed.
Our seed production journey began in 2018 in Ku’bi and Aru Bomas of Lokiliri Payam. In 2019, we expanded our operations to Magwi County, followed in 2020 by expansion into Yambio and Nzara Counties of Western Equatoria State. Western Equatoria has since become our major area of seed production.
In our early years, PRO Seed Ltd. produced seed directly on its own farms. Over time, we transitioned to an out-grower model, working with subcontracted small-scale farmers who are trained and supported to become seed producers. This approach enables us to work more closely with farming communities while strengthening local capacity in quality seed production.
Today, PRO Seed Ltd. is evolving beyond traditional seed multiplication into an integrated agribusiness enterprise, connecting production, mechanization, grain aggregation and value addition across the agricultural value chain.
