What we Produce

We are currently producing seeds of OPVs for maize, sorghum, beans, cowpeas and we also do cassava multiplication for cuttings. While most of the seed we produce are of improved varieties, from 2020, we shall be producing seed of key local varieties (landraces) in areas of interest. We are also in partnership with the Seed Trade Association of South Sudan (STASS) to promote hybrid varieties for commercial purposes

Type of seeds

We produce a variety of seeds and our focus has been on Open Pollinated Varieties (OPVs) of various seed crops such as Cereals, Legumes, Oil crops and Fruit Trees. the specific crop types and respective varieties we produce or capable of supplying include:

Our Strategy for Quality Seed Production and Trading

We acknowledge the current challenges facing local seed companies in producing quality seed in terms of purity, high germination, and disease free. This has mainly been attributed to SOGs using their domestic fields which are not isolated for seed multiplication and also the challenge of accessing quality foundation seed. It is from this background that our working strategy shall take these on board;

Establishment of block farms
Establishment of block farms for seed multiplication where all SOGs will produce the seeds. Such a farm shall be isolated and the surrounding secured by growing other crops
Establishment of block farms
Establishment of Business Relationship
In the short run, we have established business relationship with multipliers of Foundation Seed in Uganda, e.g., Serere Seed Co. ltd and Uganda Prisons for easy access to quality seed. But in the long run, with the support of our consulting plant breeders, we shall start producing our own Foundation Seeds in the country.
Establishment of Business Relationship
Acquisition and Establishment of Facilities
Acquisition and establishment of facilities for proper seed handling after harvest, e.g., seed driers, seed stores, seed treatment plant, etc.
Acquisition and Establishment of Facilities
Subcontracting of Commercial Farmers
Subcontracting of commercial farmers in the country to facilitate bulk seed production.
Subcontracting of Commercial Farmers
Partnering with NGOs and UN Agencies
Partnering with NGOs and UN Agencies (FAO and ICRC) in working with their supported farmers as seed out out-growers. This is to create business for farmers supported by NGOs who are contracted as seed producers. This strategy enables the NGO achieve its target increased and improved household incomes. On the other hand it enables us to have increased volumes of seed across the country. This subsequently leads to reduced seed unit prices resulting in improved seed security.
Partnering with NGOs and UN Agencies
Establishment of Agro-dealer Network
Establish Agro-dealer network to facilitate ease of quality seed access by farmers across the country. The identified individuals shall either be traders, extension workers or farmers interested in doing agro-business. They shall be trained on business skills and seeds management especially in the stores.
